Shyam Steel Group opens its first overseas manufacturing facility in the UAE

One of India's leading steel producers, Shyam Steel Group, has opened its first manufacturing facility outside India as part of its international growth strategy. The facility is located in the Hamriyah Free Zone in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Shyam Steel Group opens its first overseas manufacturing facility in the UAE

The facility, established by Shyam Middle East FZC, has commenced operations with an initial investment of AED 60 million.

The new plant will strengthen the company's activities in non ferrous metal recycling and alloy production while serving markets across the Middle East, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Africa, Asia and Europe.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) Director Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Shyam Middle East FZC Director Siddharth Beriwal and senior executives from both organizations.

Annual production capacity of 30,000 tons

During the visit, participants toured the production lines, metal recycling systems and aluminum and copper alloy manufacturing operations. They were also briefed on the facility's quality assurance systems, technical laboratories and advanced manufacturing technologies designed to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.

The facility has an annual production capacity of 24,000 tons of aluminum alloys and 6,000 tons of copper alloys.

AED 150 million expansion plan

As part of its long term growth strategy, Shyam Steel Group also plans to begin producing specialty alloy steel and rare earth metals. To support this goal, the company will make phased investments totaling AED 150 million over the coming years to expand production capacity, diversify its product portfolio and strengthen its competitiveness.

The company also aims to increase its direct workforce to approximately 100 employees while creating dozens of indirect jobs.

"Hamriyah Free Zone is a strategic hub for our global growth"

HFZA Director Saud Salim Al Mazrouei stated that Shyam Steel Group's decision to establish its first international investment in the Hamriyah Free Zone reflects Sharjah's growing attractiveness as a global manufacturing hub.

Al Mazrouei emphasized that the investment also supports the UAE's National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology (Operation 300bn) and the "Make it in the Emirates" initiative. He added that the authority will continue to encourage advanced manufacturing, the circular economy and sustainable industrial investments.

Export oriented production strategy

Shyam Middle East FZC Director Siddharth Beriwal stated that the company selected the Hamriyah Free Zone because of its strategic location, advanced industrial infrastructure, port connectivity, proximity to Sharjah International Airport and access to global logistics networks.

Beriwal said the company aims to become a regional hub for non ferrous metal recycling and advanced manufacturing, producing internationally certified aluminum and copper alloys for the automotive, electrical, aluminum extrusion, foundry, engineering and conductor industries.

The company also plans to obtain international quality certifications, including IATF 16949, invest in advanced manufacturing technologies and develop new products to strengthen its position in regional and global markets.
