ŞARA Teknoloji Tesis A.Ş., as part of a joint venture with ŞA-RA Enerji İnşaat Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş., has signed a contract with Moldelectrica, Moldova's national electricity transmission system operator, for the Balti–Suceava 400 kV Power Transmission Line Project.

ŞARA Teknoloji wins EUR 17.5 Million power transmission line project in Moldova

Under the contract, valued at EUR 17.57 million (approximately TRY 945.9 million), an approximately 48-kilometre 400 kV power transmission line will be constructed between Balti, Moldova, and Suceava on the Romanian border. The project is scheduled for completion in 2028.

According to the company, the contract value corresponds to approximately 13% of ŞA-RA Enerji's 2025 revenue.

The signing ceremony was attended by Moldovan Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, Moldelectrica CEO Sergiu Carmanschi, ŞARA Teknoloji General Manager Kerem Onar, and Giuseppe Grimaldi, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's (EBRD) Moldova Banking Unit.

The project is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the European Union's Neighbourhood Investment Platform (NIP).

Commenting on the project, Mertay Türk, Chairman of the Board of ŞA-RA Group, said that the Balti–Suceava 400 kV Power Transmission Line would not only strengthen Moldova's electricity infrastructure but also make a strategic contribution to the region's energy security.

Türk stated that the company is combining the engineering expertise and project execution experience gained in Türkiye with international standards to support the development of Eastern Europe's energy infrastructure. He added that the project will accelerate Moldova's integration into the European electricity system and enhance regional energy security.

Upon completion, the Balti–Suceava 400 kV Power Transmission Line is expected to strengthen Moldova's connection to the European electricity grid via Romania, improving the country's security of electricity supply.
