Salzgitter Group’s crude steel production declined from 6.39 million tons in 2024 to 5.88 million tons in 2025, representing a decrease of approximately 7.9%. Despite this drop, the company maintained its position as the world’s 61st largest steel producer.
Recent data indicates that, even with this notable reduction in output, Salzgitter Group has preserved its global market position within the steel industry. The decline in production reflects the broader slowdown in the European steel sector and challenging market conditions among global steel producers.
The Germany-based company continues to supply high-quality steel products to strategic industries such as automotive, energy, and construction. It is also playing a leading role in Europe’s sustainability transition through its SALCOS® initiative, which focuses on hydrogen-based green steel investments aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
