Under the agreement, which was signed in Bhubaneswar, Kalinga will act as the new Mine Development and Operation company at the Rowghat site. The contract covers a total period of 28 years, including the first three years dedicated to construction. Throughout this period, Kalinga will be responsible for mine development, the implementation of infrastructure investments and the execution of operational activities.
With the commissioning of Rowghat, which stands out as one of the largest iron ore projects in central India, ore supply to SAIL’s integrated steel plants is expected to increase significantly. The project aims not only to support production continuity but also to contribute to long term raw material sustainability.
The agreement was signed by Shri Anupam Bisht, Chief General Manager of Rowghat on behalf of SAIL, and Shri Manoj Ranjan Samal, Chief Financial Officer of Kalinga Commercial Corporation Ltd. The parties emphasized that the cooperation will strengthen SAIL’s self reliance strategy by increasing domestic iron ore production.
