The project will combine Indonesia's abundant nickel resources, a key raw material for stainless steel production, with SAIL's extensive expertise in operating large integrated steel plants, project execution, and steelmaking. Through this partnership, the companies aim to meet the growing demand for stainless steel in India and the ASEAN region, driven by rapid industrialization and infrastructure development in recent years.
The partnership will also support Indonesia's policy of increasing the domestic value of its mineral resources by processing them within the country instead of exporting raw materials. The planned facility is expected to strengthen the country's strategy of transforming its natural resources into high value industrial products.
