Russia produced 9.2 million tonnes of crude steel in January-February 2024

In February 2024, the Russian metallurgical industry continued to show steady growth.

Russia produced 9.2 million tonnes of crude steel in January-February 2024

According to the Federal State Statistics Service, overall industrial production increased by 8.5% compared to February 2023, while the metallurgical industry grew by 5.4%.

The Russian steel industry produced 9.2 million tonnes of crude steel in January-February 2024, 3% down yoy. February data also showed a decline of 1.2% compared to the previous month and 3.2% compared to February 2023.

There are also some developments in the rolled steel production. The total volume of rolled products produced in January-February 2024 was 9.9 million tonnes, 0.8% less than in the same period of 2023. February 2024 showed an increase in production by 0.6 % compared to January 2024 and by 1.1 % compared to February 2023.

The production of steel pipes, hollow sections and their fittings in the first two months of 2024 amounted to 1.9 million tonnes, down 11.9% yoy. At the same time, February figures show a 10.2 % increase in production compared to January 2024 and a 7.6 % decrease compared to February 2023.
