Russia extends ban on precious metal scrap exports

The ban will remain in effect until November 30, 2025, with the goal of increasing the production capacity of refinery enterprises.

Russia extends ban on precious metal scrap exports

The Russian government announced that the temporary ban on the export of precious metal scrap and waste has been extended for another six months. It was reported that the ban will remain in effect until November 30, 2025.

In a statement made by the government's press service, it was stated that this decision will help increase the workload of refinery enterprises in Russia.

Under the restrictions, the export of scrap and waste of precious metals and materials coated with these metals, as well as other scrap and waste containing such components, is prohibited. At the same time, the export of scrap and waste of electronic equipment used for recovery purposes will not be allowed.

As before, the export of antimony cathodes in the form of ingots and samples from batches exported by refining organizations will be exempted from this ban. However, the weight of the samples for each batch under the foreign trade agreement will not exceed 500 grams.

Similar restrictions have been in place since 2022, most recently from December 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025.
