According to the report of the mining and steel company NLMK in Russia, the company's crude steel production reached 17.4 million tons in 2021, an increase of 10% compared to the previous year. Sales volume in 2021 reached 16.8 million tons, down 4% year on year. Among them, exports fell 22% year on year to 5.2 million tons.
NLMK said that the increase in production and the decrease in sales volume were due to less slab supply to the market and 15% export tariffs affecting billet sales.
NLMK Group is a leading international manufacturer of high quality steel products with a vertically integrated business model. Mining and steel production are concentrated in low-cost areas; finished products are produced close to their main customers in Russia, North America and the EU.
