Following the federation's latest General Assembly and the election of a new Board of Directors, Mercier succeeded Vanessa Espil as President.
With nearly four decades of experience across the transportation, automotive, logistics, and steel distribution sectors, Mercier has served as Managing Director of the Charleroi-based Groupe Aciers Grosjean since 2015. Throughout his career, he has held various senior management positions in both Belgium and France. In his new role, Mercier will be supported by Nicolas Kamex of Van Meerbeeck Metalen and Johan Rossel of Staalhandel Rosseel, who will serve as Vice Presidents.
A long-standing member of the Belmetal Board of Directors, Mercier is also actively involved in EUROMETAL and serves on the Board of Directors of the Hainaut Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Commenting on his appointment, Mercier stated that his priority is to preserve the competitiveness of the industrial base in a changing climate and regulatory environment, while maintaining conditions that enable companies to invest and create jobs.
