Order to fight global warming from China!

The Chinese government has announced that it will continue the fight against carbon dioxide emissions in the industrial sector. To this end, specific emissions requirements will be developed for a number of industries, including ferrous metallurgy and primary aluminum production.

In particular, metallurgical plants will not have to use more than 361 kg of standard coal when melting one ton of steel using blast furnace technology. A statement was added that the electricity consumption for aluminum producers should not be more than 13 MWh per ton of metal.

By 2025, at least 30% of Chinese steel and aluminum producers are expected to meet these criteria. To this end, the government has announced that it will promote the use of low-carbon technologies in metallurgy and facilitate the decommissioning process of high-specific emission legacy plants.

In addition, a multi-stage scale of electricity tariffs will be introduced for aluminum producers, depending on the volume of carbon dioxide emissions, it is planned to develop an incentive system for metallurgical companies for the use of "green" energy.
