Number of paid employees increased by 2.2% y/y in January

The number of paid employees in Türkiye increased by 2.2% in January 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the number of paid employees in industry, construction and trade-services sectors increased by 2.2% in January 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 15 million 407 thousand 625 people.

On a sectoral basis, the number of paid employees decreased by 1.4% in the industrial sector, while it increased by 6.4% in the construction sector and by 3.5% in the trade-services sector.

Monthly Change at 0.1%

In January, the number of paid employees increased by 0.1% compared to the previous month. In this period, there was a 0.4% decrease in the industrial sector, 0.6% increase in the construction sector and 0.2% increase in the trade-services sector.

The data show that employment increased in construction and trade-services sectors, but continued to decrease in the industrial sector.
