Moselstahlwerk puts EAF plant up for sale

Germany-based MSW Moselstahlwerk GmbH has handed over the international sales and marketing process for its electric steelmaking plant in Trier to KRUDO Industrial as part of its restructuring process.

Moselstahlwerk puts EAF plant up for sale

The plant is being offered for sale as a complete electric steelmaking facility for steel producers and investors.

At the heart of the facility is a 60-ton TENOVA CONSTEEL® electric arc furnace (EAF), along with secondary metallurgy equipment and a DANIELI Centro Met three-strand continuous billet caster. The plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 560,000 tonnes. The production line covers the main steelmaking stages, from scrap charging and melting to refining and casting billets measuring 160 x 160 mm.

In 2008, Moselstahlwerk invested approximately €80 million in the modernization and technological upgrade of the facility. The investment was aimed at strengthening production capacity and operational efficiency.

The plant's product range includes wire rod, spring steel, cold-heading steel, welding wire steel, free-cutting steel, prestressed steel and rebar. The facility could therefore be of interest to companies looking to produce a range of long steel products.

Martin W. Kolodziejczyk, Founder and Managing Director of KRUDO Industrial, said the plant represents an opportunity for steel producers seeking access to existing and proven production infrastructure instead of investing in a new greenfield facility.

KRUDO Industrial will market the plant globally to potential steel producers and investors across India, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas. The sale will be conducted through a private treaty, with qualified interested parties able to inspect the facility in Trier.
