The award ceremony organized by the Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters’ Association (İDDMİB) was held with the participation of Volkan Ağar, Deputy Minister of Trade; Mustafa Gültepe, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM); and Çetin Tecdelioğlu, Chairman of İDDMİB. While 77 companies received awards across 25 categories, prizes were also presented to the winners of the 21st IMMIB Industrial Design Competition, organized with the support of the Ministry of Trade and TİM, and in cooperation between İDDMİB and the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (İKMİB).
Deputy Minister of Trade Volkan Ağar stated that the iron and non-ferrous metals sector is one of Türkiye’s most important industries thanks to its production capacity, export potential, and strong linkages with other industrial branches. Noting that the sector also made a strong start to 2026, Ağar said exports reached USD 1.2 billion in January alone, marking a 7.6% increase, with shipments made to 218 countries and regions.
TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe said that despite global uncertainties, rising costs, and difficulties in access to finance in 2025, exporters continued production. He noted that Türkiye’s total exports increased by 4.5% to USD 273.4 billion, adding that the iron and non-ferrous metals sector forms the backbone of industry across many fields, from automotive and machinery to white goods and construction.
İDDMİB Chairman Çetin Tecdelioğlu announced that the sector closed 2025 with exports of USD 13.47 billion, up 6.3% year-on-year. He stated that the export value per kilogram rose from USD 4.43 to USD 4.73, describing this as a significant development in terms of value-added production. Tecdelioğlu also noted that export growth of over 50% was recorded in 43 countries and over 10% in 41 countries in 2025, adding that Germany remained the largest market with USD 1.57 billion, while strong positions were maintained in Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, and the United States.
Tecdelioğlu further stated that the association carried out 35 international activities throughout the year, representing 452 Turkish companies across a total area of 4,033 square meters, and holding 6,101 bilateral business meetings with 1,344 foreign buyers. The countries with the most intensive activities included the United States, Germany, China, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.
