Metallic Minerals Symposium 2025 was held at Çukurova University

The mining sector, which has a strategic importance in Türkiye's industrialization and modernization journey, was discussed at the Metallic Minerals Symposium (MMS-2025) held at Çukurova University Mithat Özsan Amphitheater between 28-30 May 2025.

The event, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Altıner as Chairman of Executive Committee and Bülent Zerengök as Chairman of UCTEA Chamber of Mining Engineers Adana Branch, brought together scientists, industry representatives, academics and policy makers.

The symposium addressed the latest developments, innovative approaches and challenges faced by the sector in a wide range of areas, from the discovery and extraction of metallic minerals to their processing and sustainable utilization. Participants agreed that the effective and sustainable management of Türkiye's underground riches will contribute to the country's industrial targets and energy security.

Among the invited speakers who contributed to the event at academic and industry level were Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sabri Çelik, Prof. Dr. A. Erhan Tercan, Prof. Dr. Osman Parlak, Prof. Dr. Şafak Gökhan Özkan, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Mahmut Kılıç and Prof. Bac Devedi. They provided in-depth insights into various areas of mining and valuable analysis on energy transition, mining geology, sustainable practices and new technologies.

MMS-2025 provided an important platform for sharing knowledge, developing academia-industry collaborations and promoting more efficient mining practices. The event was remembered as an important scientific meeting that shed light on the future of the mining industry and brought decision makers and practitioners together on the same ground.
