The "Stars Award Ceremony of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exports" organized by the Aegean Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association took place at Swissotel Büyük Efes on December 15, 2023.

Yalçın Ertan, president of the Aegean Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association, who made the opening speech, said that, as Aegean Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters, the exports of 2022 increased by 15 percent in value compared to the previous year, reaching an export figure of 2 billion 560 million dollars, and that the exports made in the January-November period of 2023 He stated that it amounted to 2.3 billion dollars and that they aim to reach the previous year's figures by the end of 2023.

Ertan continued his words as follows; “As a sector, we are experiencing difficulties in the European and US markets due to the Russia-Ukraine, Israel-Palestine wars, high inflation, high interest rates and the decrease in global demand. Since energy costs in the domestic market are higher than in our competitors, the EU, the Middle East and the Far East, and the cost of human resources has increased, our exporters have started to become competitive as of the second quarter of 2022. Since 70 percent of our production is based on raw materials, our need for foreign currency is constant. As a sector, we need credit and financing opportunities more than ever in order to highlight value-added products that will increase our competitiveness in the global market.” Said.

While the Aegean export companies, which were the stars of exports in 2022, received their awards, KOCAER became the leading company that exported the most. Immediately afterwards, BAŞAK METAL ranked second and KAR-DEMİR ranked third.
