Kocaer Steel Industry and Trade Inc. (KCAER) announced in a statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that changes have been made in its senior management. According to the statement, the company’s current General Manager, Mehmet Çakmur, will leave his position as of May 31, 2026, and will continue to serve as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The company stated that, pursuant to a Board of Directors decision, Mehmet Şevket Erol has been appointed as General Manager of Kocaer Steel effective June 1, 2026.
Erol began his career at the Erdemir Group and joined the company as a process engineer in 1988. He held various positions within the organization over many years. Between 1996 and 2002, he served in engineering and managerial roles in process and blast furnace operations. He was appointed Blast Furnaces Manager for the 2002–2003 period and served as Director of Iron Production from 2003 to 2014. During this time, he was responsible for the management of coke plant, raw material preparation, sinter plant, and blast furnace operations.
Between 2014 and 2019, Erol served as General Manager of KÜMAŞ, where he held leadership responsibilities in refractory production, raw material resources, and export operations.
From 2019 to 2024, Erol served as COO of YILMADEN Holding, managing the operations of numerous subsidiaries operating in different countries. During this period, he coordinated business structures active in more than 10 countries.
Between 2022 and 2023, Erol served as General Director of AlbChrome. In 2025, he worked as COO of CoreX Metals & Mining BV, overseeing an international operational network consisting of 16 companies.
In addition, Erol has served as a board member at various companies, including Vargön Alloys, Kingman Refractories, Golden Eagle Nickel, and Yıldırım Albania Mining.
Most recently, since 2025, Mehmet Şevket Erol has continued his activities as the Founder and Managing Partner of Metallion Partners. He is reported to have extensive international experience in mining, metallurgy, ferroalloys, and industrial operations management.
