KARDEMİR has signed a main supply and resale agreement with Amsted Rail

Kardemir has signed a master supply and resale agreement with US-based Amsted Rail.

KARDEMİR has signed a main supply and resale agreement with Amsted Rail

The factory statement said that the work and negotiations carried out under the memorandum of understanding previously signed between KARDEMİR and Amsted Rail have been successfully completed.

Establishment of a global-scale commercial cooperation framework

It was stated that the main supply and resale agreement, which entered into force as of 18 June, was signed by the parties, and it was emphasized that this agreement is an important step in terms of strengthening the company’s position in international markets for high value-added products. The agreement establishes a global commercial cooperation framework that brings together the production capabilities, technical expertise, and sales-marketing resources of the parties, and includes region-based sales and distribution rights. With this agreement, international projects and commercial opportunities will be evaluated within global cooperation.

It was recalled in the statement that KARDEMİR was established in 1937 as one of the landmark investments of Turkey’s planned industrialization drive and is known as the “factory that builds factories.” It was stated that the company, as Turkey’s first integrated iron and steel producer, transforms its deep industrial heritage into high value-added products. Providing inputs to strategic sectors such as transportation, construction, mining, and manufacturing, KARDEMİR is the only domestic producer in Turkey capable of producing both railway rails and railway wheels. With its Railway Wheel Production Facility, which has an annual production capacity of 200,000 units, and its technical expertise in rail production, KARDEMİR continues to carry Turkey’s domestic and national production capability in the railway industry to international markets. This strategic cooperation will make the company’s capabilities not only in product exports but also in engineering, quality, certification, and market access more visible on a global scale.

It was stated that the other party to the agreement, Amsted Rail, is among the world’s leading suppliers in the field of bogie and wagon end components for railway wagons. With more than 150 years of engineering experience and operations across 6 continents, Amsted Rail has a strong position in the global railway ecosystem, and its market access and distribution capability create a complementary value chain with KARDEMİR’s integrated production infrastructure and technical competence in railway products.

High value-added export target

With this partnership, it is aimed to strengthen KARDEMİR’s global market access in railway products, expand its international sales and distribution network, support technical certification and market entry processes, and increase its high value-added export capacity. It was noted in the statement that this production journey, which started in Karabük and has a special place in Turkey’s industrial memory, is being carried to global markets today with strategic products ranging from rails to railway wheels. It was stated that KARDEMİR will continue to generate value for the Turkish economy in line with its goals of value-added production, export-oriented growth, and increasing its international competitiveness in the railway industry.
