According to the latest data provided by the Italian steelmakers' association Federacciai, Italy's crude steel production amounted to nearly 2 million tonnes in May, down 9.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.
During this period, the production of flat steel products in Italy decreased by 6.3% y-o-y to around 817,000 tonnes, while that of long products decreased by 1.6% to 1.15 million tonnes.
In the first five months of this year, Italy's total crude steel production stood at 9.53 million tonnes. The highest production volume was recorded in March with 2.18 million tonnes.
