India is actively developing special steel. India's domestic infrastructure is booming and market demand for special steel has increased significantly year-on-year, but appears to be heavily dependent on imports. Therefore, the Indian authority collaborated with IP Bardin to develop a special steel zone.
The official will establish R&D institutions in the country and the aim is to increase the special grade steel capacity from 18 million tons to 42 million tons through the production-linked incentive (PLI) program.
In July of this year, the Indian government approved PLI and plans to invest US$854 million over 5 years covering products such as electro galvanized steel, wear resistant steel, special rails and alloy steel.
