Hyundai and Kia cut production at the USA factories

Hyundai began reducing production at its sedan and sports utility vehicle factory in Alabama earlier this week. It expects to resume full production on August 30. The company had experienced similar production declines in the previous week.

Kia is cutting one shift of its three shifts at its sedan and compact commercial vehicle factory in Georgia from August 30 to September 3. It is expected to return to full production after the September 7 Labor Day holiday.

This is the latest announcement of production losses in the North American auto industry.

AutoForecast Solutions increased its forecast for North American vehicle production in 2021 to over 2 million lost, threatened or salvageable this week.
