Huta Częstochowa cooperates with Hyundai Rotem for K2PL tanks

Polish steel producer Huta Częstochowa has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hyundai Rotem to enable the use of Polish-made armour steel in K2PL tanks, support vehicles and other military platforms.

Huta Częstochowa cooperates with Hyundai Rotem for K2PL tanks

The agreement signed during MSPO 2026 paves the way for technical and commercial discussions on including Huta Częstochowa in Hyundai Rotem’s supply chain. The parties will assess whether the armour steel plates to be produced by Huta Częstochowa meet Hyundai Rotem’s technical and quality requirements.

Local supply for K2PL production

The cooperation was established as part of a programme envisaging the production of 61 K2PL tanks in Poland. Supplying steel plates from Huta Częstochowa could enable Poland’s local contribution to the programme to include metallurgical materials.

As Poland’s largest heavy plate producer, Huta Częstochowa has the production capacity and certifications required for the defence sector. The company also supplies materials used in the Polish Navy’s Rescuer and Miecznik programmes.

During MSPO 2026, Huta Częstochowa also signed a letter of intent with Polish Armaments Group and JELCZ concerning the development and supply of armour steels and other metallurgical materials.
