Hot rolled coil prices in Northwest Europe showed an increase earlier this week following the recovery of market activity after the Christmas holiday. Ex-works agreements were reported at €720-730/mt, while offers were seen at €740-750/mt for Germany delivery or Ruhr ex-works, depending on the buyer's location.
Local hrc prices in Northwest Europe were assessed at €725/mt ex-works Ruhr, reflecting a daily increase of €15/mt. Some market sources, noted however, expressed their concerns that there may not be a stable price increase in the EU in 2023 due to the reactivation of non-functional blast furnaces and limited demand.
