Türkiye's imported scrap prices for January 2025 have been announced. According to SteelRadar data, HMS 1&2 (80:20) scrap prices experienced a rapid recovery after a decline at the beginning of the month, showing an upward trend. The increase in demand from Europe and Asia, along with a revival of steel production in China and India, had an upward impact on imported scrap prices.
At the beginning of January, prices were at $337.5/t CFR Türkiye, but during the second week, they dropped to $327/t CFR Türkiye, marking the lowest point of the month. However, this decline was short-lived. Towards the end of the month, prices rose to $332.5/t CFR Türkiye, then continued to increase, reaching $340/t CFR Türkiye. On the last day of the month, prices peaked at $349/t CFR Türkiye, hitting the highest point of January.
The price trend for February remains uncertain. Market commentators suggest that this situation could fluctuate depending on global economic developments, exchange rate movements, and energy prices.
