House sales in Türkiye increased by 5.9% in February

The total number of homes sold in Türkiye in February increased by 5.9% compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the total number of homes sold across Türkiye in February increased by 5.9% compared to the same month last year, reaching 124,549 units. First-hand home sales rose by 5.9% to 37,785 units, while second-hand home sales increased by 6% to 86,764 units. In total sales, first-hand homes accounted for 30.3%, while second-hand homes made up 69.7%.

Mortgage-backed home sales surged by 42.3% in February to 25,035 units, while other home sales declined by 0.5% to 99,514 units. In the January–February period, mortgage-backed sales increased by 29% to 45,298 units, while other sales decreased by 4.4%. Home sales to foreigners decreased by 2.9% to 1,506 units, with the highest number of purchases made by citizens of Russia, Iran, and Iraq.

Meanwhile, total commercial property (workplace) sales in February decreased by 1.1% year-on-year to 15,069 units. First-hand workplace sales dropped by 5.2% to 3,981 units, while second-hand sales increased by 0.4% to 11,088 units. In the January–February period, total workplace sales declined by 7.2% to 28,336 units.

Mortgage-backed workplace sales increased by 62.8% in February to 692 units, while other workplace sales decreased by 3%. Seasonally and calendar-adjusted data reflected similar trends.
