Hoa Phat Group added to the FTSE All-World Index

Vietnamese steel producer Hoa Phat Group’s HPG shares have been included in the FTSE All-World Index as part of FTSE Russell’s September 2026 semi-annual review. The company’s crude steel production increased by 36% in the first half of 2026, reaching approximately 7 million tonnes.

Hoa Phat Group’s HPG shares have been included in the FTSE All-World Index as part of FTSE Russell’s September 2026 semi-annual review. HPG has been classified in the Mid Cap segment of the index.

A total of six Vietnamese stocks were added to the FTSE All-World Index as part of FTSE Russell’s September 2026 semi-annual review. The companies are Vietcombank (VCB), Vingroup (VIC), Vinhomes (VHM), BIDV (BID), VPBank (VPB) and Hoa Phat Group (HPG).

VCB, VIC and VHM were classified as Large Cap companies, while BID, VPB and HPG were included in the Mid Cap segment. The changes are scheduled to take effect after the trading session on September 18, 2026, and be implemented from September 21, 2026.

The FTSE All-World Index is part of the FTSE Global Equity Index Series and covers large- and mid-cap companies across developed and emerging markets. With the inclusion of six Vietnamese stocks, Vietnam will become the 49th country represented in the index.

Steel accounts for 93% of Hoa Phat’s revenue

The steel segment remained Hoa Phat’s main source of revenue during the first half of 2026. According to the company, steel operations accounted for 93% of total revenue and 68% of total profit.

Hoa Phat states that it is the largest steel producer in Southeast Asia, with annual production capacity of approximately 16 million tonnes. Hot-rolled coil (HRC) and high-quality steel products are among the company’s key steel products.

Crude steel production rises 36%

Hoa Phat produced approximately 7 million tonnes of crude steel in the first half of 2026, representing a 36% increase compared with the same period last year.

Sales of HRC, construction steel, high-quality steel and billets increased by 32% to 6.5 million tonnes. HRC sales rose by 57% to approximately 3.4 million tonnes.

Crude steel production exceeded 3.6 million tonnes in the second quarter, up 48% year-on-year and 9% from the previous quarter.

According to estimates by Mirae Asset Securities, Hoa Phat’s crude steel capacity utilisation rate reached approximately 94% in the second quarter of 2026. Capacity utilisation at the HRC production line at Dung Quat 2 also increased to 88%, from 55% in the first quarter.
