Following several successful projects completed between the two companies, the new investment further strengthens their long standing partnership in jumbo round casting solutions.
Danieli's scope of supply includes the main equipment for the new continuous casting machine, as well as the related electrical and automation systems. Designed to deliver high productivity and operational reliability, the new caster will feature an 18.5 meter casting radius and four casting strands.
The design of the new caster is based on a proven configuration already operating at the Jiyuan plant. In 2023, Danieli supplied a two strand continuous casting machine with a similar round casting capacity for the same facility, delivering successful commissioning results and high product quality. The new installation will replicate and expand this proven concept by adding two additional strands.
The new caster will produce round billets and blooms with diameters ranging from Ø600 mm to Ø1300 mm, primarily in alloy steel grades for the energy and marine industries, to meet growing domestic demand for high quality steel products.
Commissioning of the new casting machine is scheduled for 2027.
