The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization announced the start of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) review and evaluation process for the project proposed by Turkish steel producer Yıldız Demir Çelik Sanayi A.Ş.
Yıldız Demir Çelik Sanayi A.Ş. expressed that it wants to build a new smelter and rolling mill in Kartepe, Kocaeli.
The project will provide employment for 1,000 people during the land preparation and construction phase and 1,000 people during the operation phase.
The 3 billion TL project is planned to have an annual capacity of 4 million tons of molten steel and 3.5 million tons of hot rolling.
