World crude steel production in June 2024 was 161.4 million tonnes, up by 0.5% y/y.

The World Steel Association (WorldSteel) announced the crude steel production figures for June 2024. According to the data released, world crude steel production in 71 countries increased by 0.5% y/y to 161.4 million tonnes in June 2024.

In June, crude steel production in Africa decrease by 9.6% y/y to 1.6 million tonnes.

Asia and Oceania produced 120.6 million tonnes, up by 0.3% y/y. The EU (27) produced 11.1 million tonnes, up by 5.1% y/y. In other regions, Europe, other saw a 2.1% increase to 3.8 million tonnes, the Middle East saw a 2.7% decrease to 4.6 million tonnes, North America saw a 1.9% decrease to 8.9 million tonnes, Russia and other CIS + Ukraine saw a 1.4% increase to 7.4 million tonnes, and South America saw a 4.1% increase to 3.5 million tonnes.

In the ranking of the countries that produced the most crude steel in June, China, which ranks first, produced 91.6 million tonnes of crude steel in June, up 0.2% year-on-year.

India produced 12.3 million tonnes in the same period, up by 6.0% y/y.

Japan produced 7.0 million tonnes, down by 4.2% y/y, the United States produced 6.7 million tonnes of crude steel, down by 1.5% y/y.

Russia's crude steel production is estimated at 6.0 million tonnes, down by 4.1% y/y. South Korea produced 5.1 million tonnes, down by 7.2% y/y, Germany produced 3.2 million tonnes, down by 8.9% y/y, Türkiye produced 3.1 million tonnes, up 4.3% y/y, Iran produced 2.6 million tonnes, down by 8.5% y/y, and Brazil produced 2.9 million tonnes of crude steel, up by 11.8% y/y.
