The DGTR of India Trade Disputes (DGTR) recommended that the anti-dumping duties (actually minimum import prices) imposed in 2016 on certain types of steel products imported from China be extended for another five years.
According to current regulatory measures, the cost of Chinese wire rod supplied to India must be at least $546 per tonne CIF. The figure ranges from $961.33 to $1610.67 per ton for various types of seamless pipe up to 14 inches (355.6 mm) diameter.
Although these prices are not in line with the current market environment, seamless pipe makers, as well as Indian steel companies SAIL, RINL, Tata Steel and JSW Steel, have asked DGTR to re-investigate should global prices reopen. The process will be followed until 2026.
