Flat steel coil prices in the Brazilian spot market remained stable in August, while distributors struggled to compete with a strong flow of imported materials.
All of the high-volume coil materials arriving by July were booked at lower prices a few months ago and continued through August.
According to figures from the Brazilian economy ministry, flat steel imports reached 190,854 tons in July 2021, up 141% from 79,186 tons imported in the corresponding month of the previous year.
