In the API2 Rotterdam Coal Futures Market, the ton price of coal in March futures contracts increased to $256 at 16.53 CET.
After the Western countries' decision to remove Russian banks from SWIFT and freeze the assets of the Russian Central Bank due to Russia's attacks on Ukraine, the price of coal, which was traded at $235 at the market opening, increased by about 18 percent.
Thus, the increase in the price of coal, which was 69 dollars a ton in March last year, reached 271 percent. Coal prices have increased by 65% in the last month.
