Vale and ROGESA sign strategic pellet supply agreement to advance sustainable steel production

Vale and Roheisengesellschaft Saar mbH (ROGESA) have signed a multi-year supply agreement for iron ore pellets, a significant move towards decarbonizing steel production. The agreement, effective from 2025 to 2027, includes the delivery of blast furnace pellets and a transition to direct reduction pellets starting in 2028, coinciding with the commissioning of ROGESA's new direct reduction plant in Dillingen. This facility will enable the production of eco-friendly steel using hydrogen, moving away from traditional coking coal methods.

Both companies expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing its importance for reducing carbon emissions in the steel industry.

Vale is committed to significant reductions in its emissions by 2030 and aims for net-zero emissions by 2050.
