According to official data, U.S. wire rod imports decreased y-o-y and m-o-m in December to about 60,300 tons, down by 5.4% from November 2022 and 39% from the same month of the year.
For the U.S., imports from Canada increased by 43.4% m-o-m and 28% y-o-y, accounting for the largest share at about 28,700 tons. Japan with 8,600 tons, Mexico with 7,800 tons, Brazil with 6,300 tons and Germany with 4,400 tons were among the important export countries for the USA.
During this period, the import value amounted to approximately USD 64 million, down by 12.3% m-o-m and 32.9% y-o-y.
