According to the US Department of Commerce data, in April 2025, US rebar imports decreased by 53.7 percent to 54,756 tons compared to the same period last year. Compared to March, a 36.1 percent decrease was recorded.
Algeria was the largest supplier of rebar to the US in April. Imports from this country reached 28,966 tons, while Vietnam ranked second with 19,204 tons. The Dominican Republic and Mexico shipped 4,632 and 1,549 tons, respectively.
The value of imports also saw a significant decline. The value of rebar imports in April amounted to $31.1 million, well below $52.3 million in March and $76.9 million in April 2024.
Experts attribute the decline to domestic demand and global supply conditions.
