In November last year, the US imported about 303,400 tons of plate in November, up 143% from the previous month and 13% from the same month last year, according to data from the US Department of Commerce's (USDOC) Census Bureau.
Imports from Brazil represented the largest proportion of these, at around 245,000 tons.
The monthly increase was 518.1% and the yearly increase was 111%. Mexico was also one of the import sources with around 35,400 tons.
The value of imports during the period totaled about US$173 million, up 139.9% on month and down 2% on year.
