India’s state owned iron ore producer NMDC produced 4.07 million mt of iron ore in August 2026. The company’s production increased by %20.8 from 3.37 million mt in August 2025.
NMDC’s iron ore sales in August also increased by approximately %6 year on year to 3.58 million mt. The company sold 3.39 million mt of iron ore in August 2025.
Five month production reaches 23.23 million mt
During the April-August period of fiscal 2026-27, NMDC’s cumulative iron ore production increased by %26 to 23.23 million mt. The company produced 18.45 million mt during the same period last year.
During the same period, iron ore sales increased by %2 to 18.72 million mt. NMDC’s sales stood at 18.37 million mt during the April-August 2025 period.
According to the company’s data, production in Chhattisgarh stood at 2.64 million mt in August, while production in Karnataka reached 1.43 million mt.
NMDC targets production of more than 60 million mt
NMDC aims to produce more than 60 million mt of iron ore in fiscal 2026-27. The company stated that its production of 23.23 million mt during the first five months of the fiscal year is progressing in line with this target.
NMDC Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee stated that the increase in August production was achieved despite challenging weather conditions, adding that the company will focus on capacity expansion, strengthening logistics infrastructure and leveraging technology.
