According to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the country's crude steel production for the week in question was 1,752,000 net tons. This level represented a 3.1% increase compared to the 1,700,000 net tons recorded during the same period last year. The capacity utilization rate was recorded at 75.7% this year and 76.3% for the same week last year.
Production also increased compared to the previous week ending January 3, 2026. Production, which was 1,704,000 net tons in the week ending January 3, rose 2.8% to 1,752,000 net tons in the week ending January 10. The capacity utilization rate rose from 74.4% to 75.7% during the same period.
As of January 10, 2026, adjusted production since the beginning of the year totaled 2,482,000 net tons. This represents a 2.6% increase over the 2,420,000 net tons recorded during the same period last year. The capacity utilization rate since the beginning of the year was 75.3% this year, compared to 76.3% last year.
According to AISI data, regional crude steel production in the US for the week ending January 10, 2026, was 123,000 net tons in the Northeast, 502,000 net tons in the Great Lakes region, 272,000 net tons in the Midwest, 770,000 net tons in the South, and 85,000 net tons in the West. Thus, total weekly production reached 1,752,000 net tons.
