TYASA launches construction on advanced rolling mill in southeast Mexico

In a significant expansion of its manufacturing capabilities, TYASA, a prominent player in the Mexican steel industry, has initiated the construction of a rolling mill in the state of Veracruz. This new facility, representing an investment of $250 million, is poised to produce 400,000 tons annually upon completion.

TYASA launches construction on advanced rolling mill in southeast Mexico

The collaboration with Italy's Danieli in September 2023 marks a key step forward, as they will provide a suite of advanced equipment including a heating furnace and a comprehensive rolling line complemented by heat treatment and finishing technologies.

Strategically positioned near an existing TYASA plant which already outputs various steel products, the new mill will integrate seamlessly to utilize semi-finished goods such as square blanks and round blooms from its current operations. This addition significantly enhances TYASA’s product lineup, introducing high-quality long steel products crafted for critical industries like automotive and energy.

Set to begin operations in late 2025, the mill will diversify TYASA’s offerings, including steel circles varying from 0.5 to 5 inches in diameter and strips ranging from 2 to 4 inches wide.
