The agreement with SMS

As part of its goal to expand international cooperation, the Libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISCO) announced that it has signed agreements with two Germany-based companies: SMS Group, a metal equipment manufacturer, and Pitek Energy, which operates in the energy sector. The agreements aim to increase production capacity, enhance energy efficiency, and support environmentally responsible production processes.

The agreement with SMS Group focuses on improving productivity, reducing malfunctions, lowering operational costs, and enhancing product quality. It was signed by Dr. Mohamed Abdelmalek Al-Faqih, Chairman of the Board of Directors of LISCO, and Mr. Alberto Berganti, Regional Director for the Mediterranean and Africa at SMS Group. The partnership follows a three-day visit by the SMS delegation to LISCO. It is worth noting that SMS Group also played a key role in the establishment of LISCO’s production facilities nearly four decades ago.

The second agreement, signed with Pitek Energy, centers on renewable energy and environmentally friendly solutions. The two parties will begin joint work on evaluating projects aimed at reducing energy consumption and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. This agreement was also signed by Dr. Mohamed Abdelmalek Al-Faqih and Pitek Energy CEO Mr. Armin Bayer. On the same day, a meeting was held at the Technical Affairs Building to discuss potential areas of collaboration between the two companies.
