According to a report prepared by SteelRadar using data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Türkiye's seamless steel pipe imports decreased in August. Imports decreased by 20.11% to 31,993 tons in August from 40,086 tons in July.
2022-2023 seamless steel pipe imports, which were 339,706 tons in the first 8 months of last year, decreased by 5.75% to 320,179 tons in the same period of this year.
In 2023, the highest monthly import figure was recorded in January with 54,216 tons, while the lowest import figure was recorded in February with 18,211 tons.
6-year change in seamless pipe imports
Türkiye imported a total of 1,861,897 tons of seamless steel pipe in the last 6 years. When the import data for the years 2018-2023 are analyzed, 2022 stands out as the year with the highest import figure of 474,838 tons.
According to statistics, 261,395 tons of seamless pipes were imported in 2018, 222,629 tons in 2019, 254,572 tons in 2020, 328,284 tons in 2021 and 474,838 tons in 2022. In the first 8 months of 2023, 320,179 tons of imports were recorded.
The lowest import figure on an annual basis was recorded in 2019 with 222,629 tons. The highest import figure was recorded in 2022 with 474,838 tons. However, by 2023, the import figure in the first 8 months of the year exceeded the total import figures of other years.
