Türkiye's scrap imports increased by 2.9% in the January-May period

According to the data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Türkiye's scrap imports in May 2024 experienced an annual increase of 4.2% and a monthly increase of 19.02%.

According to the data compiled from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) by SteelRadar, Türkiye's scrap imports in May 2024 increased by 4.2% annually and 19.02% monthly.

In May, Türkiye's scrap imports rose by 4.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 1,800,258 tons from 1,728,951 tons. It also increased by 19.2% compared to the previous month of April.

The total scrap imports for the January-May period increased by 2.9%, from 8,384,877 tons to 8,627,930 tons.

The country from which Türkiye imported the most scrap metal in that month was the United States. Scrap metal imports from the United States were 395,013 tons, followed by the United Kingdom with 252,206 tons, the Netherlands with 226,347 tons, Germany with 103,442 tons, and Denmark with 90,945 tons.
