According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Türkiye’s scrap imports totaled 1.857 million tons in April, down 0.7% compared to 1.870 million tons recorded in the same month of last year. Compared to March, however, April scrap imports increased by 14.5%.
During the January–April period, Türkiye’s total scrap imports reached 6.576 million tons, representing a 0.44% increase compared to the same period of 2025.
On a country basis, the United States remained Türkiye’s largest scrap supplier in April. Imports from the U.S. increased by 55.12% year on year to 433,357 tons. Imports from the Netherlands, the second-largest supplier, declined by 18.05% to 271,386 tons, while imports from the United Kingdom rose by 1.57% to 231,095 tons.
Other major suppliers of scrap to Türkiye in April 2026 included Romania with 148,047 tons (up 42.16%), Belgium with 130,210 tons (up 0.56%), Russia with 97,366 tons (up 80.88%), France with 84,831 tons (down 2.03%), Lithuania with 70,363 tons (down 19.91%), Denmark with 57,439 tons (down 50.98%), and Germany with 56,660 tons (down 52.14%).
