Türkiye ranked among the world’s leading countries in per capita steel consumption

According to the global steel consumption data for 2025 released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), countries’ per capita apparent steel consumption figures have been announced.

According to the data, Türkiye stood out among the world’s leading economies in 2025 with per capita steel consumption of 447.8 kilograms. Reaching this level, Türkiye was positioned within a consumption range comparable to that of many advanced industrial economies.

In the global ranking, South Korea ranked first with 843.7 kilograms of steel consumption per capita. It was followed by Taiwan with 751.4 kilograms and China with 562.1 kilograms. In Europe, the highest per capita steel consumption was recorded in the Czech Republic at 528 kilograms.

Türkiye also reached one of the highest levels among European countries, surpassing Italy with 401.8 kilograms, Poland with 348.8 kilograms, Germany with 347.1 kilograms, and Japan with 389.5 kilograms of steel consumption per capita.

Among other advanced economies, per capita steel consumption amounted to 314.3 kilograms in Canada, 278.1 kilograms in Spain, 276.8 kilograms in Sweden, and 261.7 kilograms in the United States.

The data showed that Türkiye’s per capita steel consumption was at levels comparable to, or higher than, those of many major economies in both Europe and the global market.
