Import prices of HMS 80:20 scrap in Türkiye decreased by $15-20 in late February and early March, before rebounding this week. Turkish steel mills kept their scrap stocks at strong levels for April and May shipments. Purchases from Europe and the US were at $382-$389 for HMS 80:20 scrap. Purchases from the US this week peaked at $389, while the US is looking to increase scrap prices to $400 in the short term. According to market commentators, it was also reported that a sale may have been made at $393. The double weakness in the domestic and international markets caused both markets to deteriorate day by day, but hopes were restored with the recovery in scrap prices.
