While representatives of the steel industry in Türkiye continued to talk about the uncertainties regarding VAT withholding, they refrained from setting prices and making sales.
Although the statement published in the Official Gazette on the night between Friday and Saturday regarding the amendment to the VAT notification was first interpreted as allowing offset within the same month and caused joyful discussions, later when it was read and evaluated over and over again, an agreement was reached by the accountants that the offset could be made with the previous month.
While the situation casts a shadow over the sector again, the stagnation in business continues.
While İçdaş, one of the iron and steel factories, continued to give a price of $640/ton for Biga, Istanbul and Iskenderun factories continued to give a price of $640/ton, and producers in the Izmir region continued to give a price of $625/ton.
