Třinecké Železárny is postponing its electric arc furnace (EAF) and infrastructure investments, aiming to complete the project before 2030 instead of the previously planned 2028. The company is actively negotiating with the Czech government and the EU to secure the necessary support during this process.
CEO Roman Heide explained that the main reasons for the delay are the lack of public support, uncertainties in the European Green Deal, the adverse situation in the steel market, and unclear import protection rules. Heide stated, “Implementing such a large investment requires a favorable combination of European policy developments and market conditions.”
