TOBB announced the number of closed and opened companies in October

Data released by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) revealed important findings regarding the companies established and closed in October.

TOBB announced the number of closed and opened companies in October

In October 2024, the number of companies established in Türkiye decreased by 2.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. However, the number of closed companies increased by 8.6 percent in the same period.

Decline Continued in the First 10 Months of 2024

In the first 10 months of 2024, the number of companies established in Türkiye decreased by 12.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In particular, the number of cooperatives established decreased by 15 percent and the number of real person commercial enterprises by 20.8 percent. On the other hand, the number of closed companies increased by 21.2 percent, showing a remarkable rise. The number of real person commercial enterprises closed decreased by 32.7 percent.

Details in October

While the number of companies established in October increased by 5.5 percent compared to the previous month, it decreased by 2.8 percent on an annual basis. While the number of cooperatives established decreased by 26.3 percent, the number of real person commercial enterprises established increased by 10.1 percent. On the other hand, the number of closed companies increased by 13.2 percent on a monthly basis and 8.6 percent on an annual basis in October. There was a 40 percent increase in the number of closed cooperatives and a 35.9 percent increase in the number of closed real person commercial enterprises.

Notable Trends in Establishments and Closures

While the annual decline in the number of cooperatives is noteworthy in the TOBB data, the increase in the number of closed companies points to the difficulties faced by commercial enterprises. Moreover, the increase in the number of real person commercial enterprises established indicates that small-scale trade continues.

These developments provide important indicators that economic dynamics in Türkiye are changing and that businesses are facing increasing difficulties in sustaining their operations.
