thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology is restructuring its U.S. production network

thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology segment has announced a major restructuring plan to make its North American production network more efficient and competitive. As part of the plan, the Terre Haute production facility in Indiana, operated by thyssenkrupp Presta North America, is expected to be closed by March 31, 2027.

The company plans to reorganize its U.S. chassis operations and focus on its Hamilton, Ohio facility, operated by thyssenkrupp Bilstein of America. This is intended to create a simpler, more efficient, and more centralized structure for U.S. operations.

The Terre Haute site currently employs around 230 people. The company stated that the closure will be carried out gradually and in an orderly manner, ensuring uninterrupted supply to customers during the transition.

thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology COO Viktor Molnar said the change is an important step to strengthen long-term competitiveness, emphasizing that the automotive industry transformation requires more flexible and cost-efficient production structures.

thyssenkrupp Presta North America President Yashar Kazemi acknowledged that the closure represents a significant change for employees and the local community, and stated that the process will be managed responsibly and in an orderly way.

The company also highlighted that North America remains a key strategic market, generating approximately EUR 2.1 billion in sales in fiscal year 2024/2025. Through this restructuring, the Hamilton site is expected to be strengthened and developed into a more focused chassis production hub.
