According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), US steel production for the week ending May 21, 2022 was 1,789,000 tons at 82% capacity utilization. In the corresponding week of last year, US steel production was 1,834,000 tons with a capacity utilization rate of 81%.
Thus, current production figures decreased by 2.5% compared to the previous year and increased by 0.2% compared to the previous week (1,785,000 tons, 81.8%).
