According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the index, calculated based on the results of the Consumer Tendency Survey conducted in cooperation with the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), stood at 85 in March.
Looking at the sub-indices, the index measuring the household’s current financial situation decreased by 1.4% month-on-month in April, falling from 72.8 to 71.8.
In contrast, the index reflecting expectations for the household’s financial situation over the next 12 months increased by 2.1% in April, rising from 85.6 in March to 87.5.
The index for expectations regarding the general economic situation, however, declined over the same period. It decreased by 0.9% from 79.1 in March to 78.3 in April.
Meanwhile, the index measuring the intention to spend on durable consumer goods increased in April. It rose by 1.7% from 102.7 in March to 104.4.
